Sun and sunspots

While hiking at Pedernales Falls State Park, we noticed a few thin clouds passing over the face of the sun, creating a rare opportunity to look at the sun high in the sky with the naked eye. I decided to snap a few pictures of the ephemeral event, and when I downloaded the pictures later, I realized I could also see that the sun was in the midst of a very active sunspot cycle!
