Like most photographers, I relish the chance to snap the shutter just in time to capture the elusive butterfly. Okay, sometimes they cooperate with me and perch on their flower of choice and savor their meal long enough for me to steady my camera and compose my shot. But most of the time they flutter away as soon as I near, and I’m lucky to get a single image before they’re off to find their next meal. This was just such a case–the only photo I was able to shoot before this little beauty flew away.
From what I can tell, this is a pearl crescent (aka, pearly crescent-spot; aka, Phyciodes tharos) butterfly. Feel free to let me know if I’ve misidentified!
